how to cut and fit your tiles

Before you begin, make sure the floor area is clean, dry, and free from dust or debris.

We recommend having:

- Tape measure

- Straight edge or metal ruler

- Marker or pencil

- Sharp utility or Stanley knife

- Cutting mat or protective surface

- Spare blades for cleaner cuts

step 1

lay out your playmat tiles.

start by placing your tiles loosely across the room to plan your layout. This helps minimise smaller edge cuts and ensures the best overall fit.

for the neatest finish, begin in one corner and work outward.

step two

measure your cutting area.

when you reach the edge of the room or an obstacle, measure the gap carefully. Transfer the measurements onto the tile using a ruler or straight edge for accuracy.

remember to double-check your measurements before cutting.

step three

start cutting your tiles.

place the tile on a safe cutting surface and use a sharp utility knife to cut along your marked line. Keep the blade at a low angle to the tile and apply firm, steady pressure.

try to make several light passes rather than trying to cut through in one go. This will help you achieve a cleaner, more precise edge.

step four

test, adjust and fit together.

position the cut tile into place and check the fit. if needed, trim small amounts gradually until the tile fits snugly against the wall or object. fit the remaining edge pieces where needed.
